Oops

Well, then. I kinda fell off the reading wagon and lost motivation there for a few days, eh? Mostly because the twists, turns, and shocking ending of Verity left me so messed up I didn't know where to go. Hopefully I can finish another book today. I am currently reading Looking For Alaska- John Green. This is the last chance I'm giving a John Green book. I loved The Fault In Our Stars, but I have not been impressed with any other of his books I have read, and have even already DNFed one this year. So, hopefully I can get a decent amount of reading in today and tomorrow. I am still 3 books ahead of schedule for the year, but I want to try to keep up my momentum!

Verity - Colleen Hoover

Coleen Hoover is one of my favorite authors, and seeing her out of her comfort zone was delightful. If you don't know who Colleen Hoover is, shame on you. No, Colleen Hoover is a Texan author who's normal focus is Young Adult Fiction/Romance. All of her books that I've read have been absolutely phenomenal, and I am pretty sure the lowest I have ever rated any of her books are 4 out of 5 stars. She is absolutely brilliant, and Verity was no different.

Well....it was a little different. Verity was NOT a Romance novel. Nope, not at all. There was some romance, there was a LOT of sex, but it was not a romance novel. Verity is a mystery thriller novel that is 333 pages of brilliance.

My Lovely Wife - Samantha Downing

"I went shopping today"

"Jesus, I hope you didn't spend any money. I'm looking at our budget right now, and we don't have any extra. Not after the washer had to be replaced."

I smile. "Not that kind of shopping"

Husband, wife, 2 children. Financial woes. It's a tale as old as time. Until, all of a sudden, it's a completely different tale. What happens when the husband and wife share a particular hobby? Something as dark as murder?

This novel hooked me from the beginning, and I had a hard time putting it down. I wanted to find out what came next, how it ended, and I wasn't disappointed. So many twists, turns, and demented surprises until we get to the ultimate betrayal.

Thank you Netgalley and Berkley Publishing Group for the ARC in exchange for an honest review.

Sharp Objects - Gillian Flynn

This book was.....a roller coaster of emotion. It started off slow, and I wasn't sure if I was going to be able to get into it, but because of the popularity of it I didn't want to DNF it, so I powered through. About halfway in, I was hooked.

Camille Preaker is a small town girl, who escaped to the big city. She's a reporter for a newspaper that nobody reads, and nobody cares about. When tragedy strikes her home town, her boss sees this as an opportunity to get their paper on the radar, so he sends her home to report on the murders of two young girls.

Once she arrives, it becomes clear why she left. Her family life is unstable, and you slowly see how it has effected her as a person. The entire book shows what an unhealthy wreck society is, while we watch Camille try to solve these two murders.

To solve the murders, she must face her past, and unravel the puzzles she doesn't remember, or never knew about.

In my opinion, this book is 100% worth the read. In the beginning it may feel like it will drag on forever, but about the halfway through mark you will feel like you can't put the book down.

Reading Goals 2019

This....I'm doing this. I keep toying with the idea of starting a book blog, and somehow keep convincing myself out of it. I'm not sure why. I love reading, and I love writing. Putting the two together just...it makes sense.

So, I have a few goals when it comes to reading in 2019. The two big ones.

  1. Read 100 books.
  2. Read 34,000 pages

Now, in 2018 I read 64 books. However, I took a portion of the year off of reading due to personal circumstances. So, I believe these goals are reachable...I hope.

Now, onto my TBR of 2019. These are the books I want to read in 2019.

So, onward we go! I am starting the year off strong with Sharp Objects - Gillian Flynn
